When a foreigner has a Vietnamese spouse, the Vietnamese person has the right to sponsor a long-term visa.

I. Sponsorship documents for foreigners whose spouse is Vietnamese

– Marriage registration certificate or Marriage note (If in a foreign language, consular legalization or translation is required) – certified copy.

– Citizen identification card of relatives in Vietnam – certified copy

– Personal information sheet of foreigner’s passport – photocopy

– Form NA3 and fill in all required information – original

II. Procedure steps

Step 1 – Prepare documents: The guarantor fills out information in form NA3 and requests confirmation from the Commune or Ward Police where the guarantor has permanent or temporary residence.

Step 2 – Submit application:

– The guarantor or the guarantor’s authorized recipient submits the application for an entry official letter online on the system of the Immigration Department.

– After that, the sponsor or authorized recipient directly submits the application at the Immigration Department according to the prepared application set mentioned above.

Step 3 – Receive results: After 5 working days from the date the application is valid and complete, the Immigration Department will return the results. In the entry dispatch, the Immigration Agency clearly states the time of entry and place to receive the foreigner’s visa.

Step 4: Send the results Notification to the foreigner: The sponsor notifies the foreigner who is his/her relative that he/she has completed the procedure for applying for an entry letter at the Immigration Department. The guarantor in this case scans the immigration document and emails it to the foreigner. The foreigner prints that document file to continue with the procedures in Step 5 below.

Step 5 – Receive visa and pay fee: Depending on the place of visa receipt stated in the official dispatch, foreigners come to apply for a visa to enter Vietnam.

Normally, foreigners receive visas at Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad or at international border gates of Vietnam (For example, Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang airports…. )

At the visa receiving place, the visa applicant fills out and submits Form NA1 with a 3cmx4cm photo + Original passport + Copy of the entry document applied for at the Immigration Department that the foreigner printed in Step 4.

At the place of visa procedures, foreigners pay fees according to regulations on Vietnamese visa fees and charges
