Foreigners coming to work in Vietnam must meet two conditions: working legally (with a work permit) and residing legally (with a temporary residence card and visa). – Foreign workers who have been granted a work permit:

Be a legal worker in Vietnam with a legal labor contract and a work permit issued by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Or in cases where legal workers are granted exemption from work permit application by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. The duration of the temporary residence card depends on the term of the work permit and must not exceed 02 years.

– Investor:

+ Be an owner or capital contributing member of a limited liability company with capital contribution value of 3 billion or more

+ Be the chairman of the board of directors or member of the Board of Directors of a joint stock company with capital contribution value of 3 billion or more

And Spouses and children under 18 years old of the above two groups of people

– Foreigners who have a marital relationship (spouse) or children (under 18 years old) with Vietnamese people and need to temporarily reside in Vietnam.

Temporary residence card is a document issued by a Vietnamese competent authority to foreigners showing visa exemption during the validity period of the temporary residence card. Valid as a long-term visa or temporary residence card, also known as a special visa, the shortest term of a temporary residence card is 1 year, the average term is 2 years, the longest term is 5 years.

Benefits of foreigners granted temporary residence cards

Using a temporary residence card as a foreigner has the same benefits as a visa: temporary residence according to the term stated on the card, using the card along with the passport to enter and exit Vietnam, sponsoring relatives to come to Vietnam. Men visit relatives and live together.
