An entry dispatch is a document allowing foreigners to receive a Vietnam visa from the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security – the agency that manages the entry and exit of foreigners in Vietnam.

When there is an approval letter, the foreigner will receive the visa at the location where the visa application has been approved.

There are visa-issuing locations that customers can choose from when applying for an entry letter

  1. International airport border gate in Vietnam
  2. International land border gate
  3. Waterway border gate
  4. Vietnamese diplomatic agencies abroad (Vietnamese embassies and consulates general)

Once you have requested a location to receive your visa, you must receive your visa at that location.

Common entry documents according to the purpose of entry of foreigners include:

  1. Entry official letter for tourist visa (visa symbol is DL): Issued to people entering for tourism. Valid from 01 month to 03 months.
  2. Entry official letter to receive a work visa (visa symbol is LĐ): Issued to people entering the country to work. There is a time limit according to the work permit, but the maximum is 01 year.
  3. Entry letter to receive investment visa (visa symbol is ĐT): Issued to foreign investors and foreign lawyers practicing in Vietnam. Has a maximum term of 01 year.
  4. Official dispatch receiving work visa (DN symbol): Issued to foreigners who come to work in Vietnam, promote trade, and do not have a work permit. Granted for a maximum of 03 months.
