Procedures for extending commercial visas for foreigners

Foreigners who do not apply for an investor or worker visa (with a work permit) and enter Vietnam for short-term periods to work at companies or representative offices can apply for a short-term commercial visa. When this period expires, if they want to continue working, they can extend their short-term commercial visa.

Currently, commercial visas for foreigners working and operating in Vietnam are mainly the following visa types:

1. Visa DT1 – Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contribution worth VND 100 billion or more or investing in industries and professions with investment incentives Investment and investment incentive areas are decided by the Government.
2. DT2 Visa – Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contribution worth from 50 billion VND to less than 100 billion VND or investing in industries and professions Encourage investment and development as decided by the Government.
3. DT3 Visa – Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with contributed capital worth from 03 billion VND to less than 50 billion VND.
4. Visa DT4 – Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with contributed capital worth less than 03 billion VND.”;
5. DN1 Visa – Issued to foreigners working with businesses and other organizations with legal status according to the provisions of Vietnamese law.”;
6. Visa DN2 – Issued to foreigners offering services, establishing a commercial presence, and performing other activities according to international treaties to which Vietnam is a member.

Dossier for business visa extension includes:

1. Legal documents of the company or enterprise providing the guarantee (Including business registration, certificate of seal use)
2. The foreigner’s original passport has a minimum validity of 6 months
3. Form NA5 – Application form for granting, supplementing, amending visas, extending temporary residence
4. Investment certificate or documents certifying capital contribution if foreigners apply for visa types DT 1, DT 2, DT 3, DT 4)
5. Temporary residence registration form from the local police where the foreigner is temporarily residing in Vietnam or a printed copy of the online temporary residence declaration

The place to submit applications for business visa extension is the Immigration Department or Immigration Department
